Business Model Development

Janine initially advised the Narooma School of Arts on the pathway to funding a major new community led, cultural build which would become the Narooma Arts Centre, the anchor for its new cultural precinct.

Over 10 years later, as the $9.92 million facility approached completion, J9 was re-engaged to advise on the development of a sustainable operating model for the organisation and broader community.

Back To Case Studies

Approach

J9 facilitated a strategic planning workshop onsite with the Board to identify opportunities, challenges and short and long term priorities for the new facility. Consultation with various stakeholders informed the development of a place-based case for support designed to attract philanthropy, business partnerships and community support.

The work focused on balancing cultural, community and economic outcomes while ensuring the centre could contribute to regional arts development, cultural tourism and creative industry growth.

Impact

The Narooma Arts Centre has a roadmap for sustainable operations and long-term growth, with diversified income and partnerships opportunities to draw on as it builds readiness for philanthropy and business investment. With strategies in place to grow cultural tourism and regional visitation, and opportunities for artists and the community to participate, the Centre is positioned as a significant cultural infrastructure asset for the region.
