Development Strategy

4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art was undergoing a period of transition, regrouping in the post-pandemic period with the appointment of new Artistic Director/CEO. With a new organisational strategy focused on transformation and growth, J9 was engaged to develop the philanthropic plan needed to support the vision.

Back To Case Studies

Approach

J9 developed a five-year philanthropy strategy to secure the resources needed to deliver 4A’s organisational goals while recognising the capacity constraints of a medium-sized arts organisation. J9 then supported 4A to begin implementing the strategy, embedding a whole-of-organisation approach to philanthropy and sponsorship, strengthening donor engagement and stewardship practices, whilst providing ongoing mentoring and advisory support.

Impact

J9 provided 4A with a clear and actionable development framework aligned with its 2024–2028 Strategic Plan, while also strengthening internal capability across donor engagement and partnership development. Enhanced systems for tracking and stewardship have improved organisational confidence and focus, giving 4A a structured foundation for sustainable fundraising growth and long-term financial resilience.

In Their Words

Collaborating with the J9 team was transformative. Their guidance resulted in a substantial enhancement of our donor and major gifts tracking systems, leading to a significant increase in philanthropic contributions. Janine's expertise was particularly valuable, as she provided strategic insights on approaching corporate support and established clear targets aligned with the 4A's 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, ensuring a strategic and impactful fundraising approach.
