J9 Consulting was engaged by Creative Australia as a business innovation specialist to deliver a pilot program focused on the sustainability of small to medium cultural organisations. At a time of changing audience behaviours, shifting government funding models and increasing operational pressures, the project sought to strengthen organisational resilience and identify pathways for long-term sustainability.

The initiative supported organisations to explore new business models and build organisational capacity for future growth while maintaining strong artistic and community outcomes.

Back To Case Studies

Approach

J9 worked closely with organisational leaders and Boards to review business models, assess organisational capacity and identify opportunities for revenue diversification. Through facilitated workshops, planning sessions and executive coaching, organisations explored practical approaches to growth that aligned with their purpose, resources and strategic priorities.

The program encouraged cultural organisations to adopt a more entrepreneurial mindset while strengthening leadership capability, financial sustainability and long-term organisational resilience.

Impact

The program left participating organisations with a clearer view of their business models and the revenue opportunities available to them, along with stronger leadership and governance capability to act on them. Boards and executives are now better placed to evaluate future opportunities and respond to changing funding and market conditions, building a more resilient and sustainable cultural sector.
